Hello,

I am falling in love with teaching
Hi, my name is Justice Ewing. I am a Senior in the Secondary Education program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. My focus area is on social studies. I love history and government. My favorite subject however has to be US History! I appreciate and absolutely love how you can learn so much about our modern world, and current events, by studying the past. My favorite era has to be the beginnings of our country, with the American Revolution. However, I would like to say that teaching US Gov. has been what has made me fall in love with teaching. This website is my collection of works done over the course of my time in a little over a year and a half in the experiential learning portion of my undergraduate program. I currently student teach at Durango High School and have taught as a substitute. I have taught at Spring Valley High School, Sierra Vista High School, and Durango High School. Before college, I took a 3-year Career and Technical Education program at Spring Valley designed to teach and create future educators in our community. So I have been doing this since high school and still have the passion and drive to move forward to begin my career and pursue a master’s degree & doctorate in admin later down the road. My personal teaching philosophy is that of simply caring for my students. I want my students to know they are safe in my classroom, and that I care about each one for who they are, so they can focus on their learning without worry in my classroom. As you will see this will be explored more in detail as you explore the rest of my page, as I have it set up in order. From this intro page, you can then click on the top right to look more into my teaching philosophy, my teaching artifacts over the years, my conclusion, and lastly my resources under the “More” tab. I have loved every step I have taken to get to where I am today. That is without saying it wasn’t easy, as I for sure have had rough patches and speed bumps along the way. With this in mind, I decided to focus my page on a theme that reflects who I am, and the journey I have taken to get to where I am today. My theme is going to be centered around the season of Fall, the color green, and the earthy tones of our world. I am someone who loves to move with what the winds of life take me, but I also am stubborn and want to stay grounded safely. I have learned however that I need to be able to move forward as needed and be ready to change, like the Fall season. I used to not like the color green growing up, but as I have gotten older, and grown within myself over the course of the past 3 and a half years in college, I have noticed how much I have changed. With that being said, that is why I chose the color green, to help reflect the change I have experienced in college and also in my teaching experience, as I continue to grow with every step I take in a classroom. I hope you enjoy my page and will connect with my story. Thank you.
